Music Spotlight: Gorillaz and The Knife

The Gorillaz, a band comprised of four animated members, are dropping their first album in five years on March 9 in the U.S. Co-created by famous Blur vocalist Damon Albarn and “Tank Girl” comic illustrator Jamie Hewlett, the duo will finally release the band’s third studio album “Plastic Beach,” thereby crushing multiple rumors of their retirement.

Fruit of the Month: Pomegranate

The pomegranate (päm′gran′it) — also referred to as “Chinese apple” or Granada— is a full and rounded fruit, with a flared spiky crown at its base. The fruit varies in size, but it is typically 2.5 to 5 inches wide with a tough, leathery rind that is yellow and overlaid with light or deep pink or rich red in color. An average sized fruit—about the size of a large orange—weighs about 9 ounces.

Book Primer: Dr. Cheryl Edelson

Dr. Cheryl Edelson is an English professor and has been chosen for this month’s Book Primer. I’ve had the pleasure to be a student of hers for both English 101 and 102. In these two classes, I’ve read some really interesting books and short stories and figured her personal favorites would be equally, if not more, interesting. We should all broaden our horizons and pick up a book. Let’s follow in the footsteps of the Book Primer professors.
