Huge Garbage Patch Threatens World’s Oceans

A marine expedition from California set out this month to the Northern Pacific to call attention to a huge man-made dump that is threatening aquatic life. The Algalita Marine Research Foundation (AMRF), based out of Long Beach, Cali. is on a 10-year anniversary voyage to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which it formally discovered in 1999.

The fall 2009 freshmen class at Chaminade University of Honolulu is described as the largest in recent memory by faculty, staff, and students.The increased enrollment is good news for Chaminade, which has been facing financial challenges. But the large class also has affected housing accommodations and jobs for some students.
