For the Chaminade University athletic program, the 2008-2009 year was one of transition and promises for a fresh future. In particular, the first-time hiring of a full-time athletic director (Bill Villa) brings a sense of newfound dedication in the athletic program, which can hopefully transcend mediocrity and become a beacon of pride within the Chaminade community.
Chaminade University raised close to $100,000 and netted $52,000 (after expenses) through the school’s first annual Athletic Gala that was held on Feb. 6. The gala was held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.
The women’s tennis team has improved tremendously since Head Coach Blake Mosley took over last season. They won an impressive nine matches last season, the most wins in the history of the program, which set the bar high for this season.

On April 25, more than 70 students, faculty, friends and family participated in the first Annual President Sue 5k Fun Run as part of alumni reunion weekend. All proceeds went to the Sue Wesselkamper Endowed Scholarship Fund.
Chaminade’s most competitive and exciting sport event may be flag football. That’s right, flag football. Not golf, not softball, not soccer, maybe volleyball or basketball, and definitely not tennis.
