Tensions were high as the Chaminade Silverswords took on nationally ranked No. 3 BYU-Hawaii Seasiders for the third time this season. The Cannon Center on the campus of BYU-Hawaii was packed with 2,234 fans that were not disappointed, as the Silverswords fell to the Seasiders in an action-packed game, 109-104.
Athletic Director Bill Villa has put the rumor to rest: There will not be a men’s baseball team at Chaminade University of Honolulu. “I have no idea where the rumor of us starting a baseball team began. I am open to the idea, but as of this moment I do not see it as a possibility in the near future,” said Villa. There are plenty of factors that contribute to this decision.
Let the madness begin! In one week, on March 15, Selection Sunday will come. Sixty-five hopeful teams will be selected to play for the NCAA Division I championship. This year’s Final Four will be held in Detroit. This season in Men’s NCAA Division I basketball, five teams held the number one spot. Currently, No. 1 Connecticut has regained the spot due to the No. 3 Pittsburgh loss to Providence last week.
Men’s basketball wraps up their season with a record of 15-12 on the year, and 7-5 in the Pacific West Conference. They finished 4th in conference, which was not enough to get them into the post season.
The Lady Swords ended their season with a loss to UH-Hilo. With a final score of 86-67, the Lady Swords were able to keep it close and concluded the seasons with an exciting game.
