The acquisition of two new men’s basketball players could not have come at a better time. With a roster of only nine players, the Swords found themselves in a pickle when forward Shane Hansen and center Chris Smith were forced to take a red-shirt year. Hansen suffered a broken ankle in mid-December, which forced him to watch from the sidelines the remainder of the season. Smith is ineligible due to his participation in a basketball contest in Australia, which the NCAA deemed as professional.
Chaminade University of Honolulu hosted its first annual Athletic Gala at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki Feb. 6. Chaminade held the gala to honor and induct former players, coaches and administrative supporters into the Chaminade Athletic Hall of Fame.
Chaminade students have found a way to turn their community service into a fulfilling, interesting, and very fun (but challenging) task.
Brigham Young and Hawaii Pacific universities have the two strongest softball clubs in the Division II Pacific West Conference. Chaminade, on the other hand, has a record of being trampled under its opponents’ cleats.
