Live Music Lives at Pipeline

As electro-rock outfit Shiny Toy Guns departed the stage at Pipeline Café on Jan. 30, the alternative music scene in Hawaii was provided a shot in the arm. In this age, where hip-hop dominates radio airplay and the Billboard charts, the “alternative” genre has truly become the niche interest implied by its moniker. Especially here in Hawaii, modern rock is little more than an afterthought, with shows from commonly known bands a rare occurrence.

Restaurant Review: Café Laufer Flourishes with Flavor

Located conveniently from campus in Kaimuki, Café Laufer offers a quaint, laid-back atmosphere that is ideal for reading while grabbing a bite to eat. Though known for its desserts, it has an extensive lunch and dinner menu that presents a variety of gourmet sandwiches, soup and fresh salads.

As with every Oscars, everybody looks for who is best and worst dressed, and who came with whom. But the most important thing is who takes that Golden Man home.
