Poke or diced raw fish dates back to the days of ancient Hawaii. According to modern -day Hawaiians, their ancestors would gut and debone the fish they caught and eat it with salt and seaweed, which was used for flavor. Later, different vegetables such as tomatoes and onions were used to compliment the dish.
