Catchin' a Wave with the Surf Club

One of the first thoughts that come to mind when thinking about going to school in Hawaii is, "How's the surf?" Many students come to Chaminade with the goal of learning how to surf by the time they graduate. Surf schools found in Waikiki and the North Shore could cost as much as $150 for only two hours of surf! Why pay that much money when you can learn how to surf for free by joining the Chaminade Surf Club.

Ching Brings Change

A small but significant change was made to the face of Freitas Hall: a sign covering the building’s name and proclaiming a new name, Clarence T.C. Ching Hall. This change is the first of many, thanks to a $5 million grant Chaminade received towards the renovation of the building’s administrative center.

Moving Up... Hill

Now that the Sullivan Family Library is up and running, Chaminade has decided to continue with the construction of its “dream campus.” The next phase of renovation will occur in Kieffer Hall and is expected to cost about $482,868, paid for through a grant from the Atlantic Philanthropies Foundation.

Termites Eating Away at Campus Buildings

Recent termite damage at Chaminade University, has ran up a bill of $140,000. Termites have invaded T.C. Ching Hall (formerly Freitas Hall), specifically the wood above the business office. A nest about 12 to 14 inches tall and wide was found.
