The Silversword: Home > Travel and Leisure > Halloween Treats
It’s that time again, boys and girls, where the ghost and goblins come out to play. Kids and even adults roam the streets looking for the spooks and scares of Halloween in the fiftieth state. Below are two recipes that will tickle and entertain your guests’ sweet tooth this Halloween.
| Cook Time: 1 hour | Difficulty: Easy | Serving: 3-4 |
The first recipe that is being shared with you is called “ghost in the cave.” This dessert consists of melted chocolate (milk or dark) placed in the refrigerator with a bowl on top of the melted chocolate to create a dip in which to put the filling in later. The filling can be your choice of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. “Ghost in the cave” is very simple to assemble and a dessert everyone wants to try.
Ingredients:
1 bag milk or dark chocolate
1 bar of chocolate
1 can of whipped cream
Mint (use for garnish)*
Vanilla ice cream*
*Optional
Directions:
The first step to making this dessert is to melt the bag of chocolate in a bowl using a microwave, which should be on low power or on a double boiler to avoid burning the chocolate. (A double boiler is a bowl placed in a saucepan of boiling water.)
Once chocolate is melted, wrap a separate bowl in plastic wrap and place the bowl on top of the chocolate. Make sure the bowl is not as big as the bowl with the chocolate. This is important because you don’t want the chocolate to overflow.
Next, place it in the refrigerator to let the chocolate harden once again.
After 30 minutes or when the chocolate has become solid, remove the top bowl and
fill the space that was left with you choice of whipped cream and ice cream.
With a grater, shred the bar of chocolate and sprinkle it over the top of the finished
product.
