Pet Lovers…Fetch This One!

Alyssa Benito, Staff Writer

Pet lovers…. this one’s for you! Pet Power Hawaii is a local business owned and operated by Taryn Matsuda, a graduate of Kailua High School and currently a Hogan member here at Chaminade. Matsuda’s business caters to those looking for something extra special for the animal in their life. All-natural snacks and party planning complete with Fido’s own personal cake take pet care to whole new level. Not only are the treats appealing to the eye, they are pretty tasty too. Believe it or not, they are fit for human consumption as well. I can attest to that as I was able to try some for myself.  Most of the pet snacks are made from ingredients such as rice, rye flour, sweet potato, peanut butter, taro, yogurt and coconut carob flavors, just to name a few.

While doggie treats are the mainstay of this operation, Pet Power Hawaii offers additional benefits by becoming members of the Pet Savings Club for a mere $10. The Pet Savings Club Card offers its members discounts and bargains at 40 businesses including Enchanted Lake Pet Center, Waimanalo Feed Supply, New Beginnings (Waimanalo), Doggie Paddles, Personalized Pet Care, Windward Walkies and many others throughout Oahu. Matsuda encourages non-profits, schools, churches, team sports, and club associations to take advantage of the Savings Card as a fund-raising opportunity. They simply buy the cards up front for $5 a piece and sale the Pet Savings Card for $10 to interested members. It’s a novel way to provide great value while earning money for your worthy cause. It’s a win-win-win situation. Your non-profit makes money, the donor gets a great value and our pets get the special treatment they deserve.

Coupon discounts and promotions are good through April 30, 2009. To find out more about this program and where you can pick up the cards, call 589-9971 or check out their website http://www.petpowerclub.com .
